Hear From Families Like Yours in Hiawatha

My child has been attending stride for just about a year now and I have nothing but good things to say about them! The staff are amazing with the children and really care about them and their progress. He is communicating so much more verbally now and a lot of his inappropriate behaviors have significantly decreased. I've learned a lot as a parent too. Thank you Stride for all you do for our children!
My daughter has been in stride for over a year and doing great. We will be starting our son soon. They are very trustworthy and do a great job with the kids. I would highly recommend this ABA therapy. They do not just follow them around while they play, they actually have a preschool like set up. I have been to 4 other ABA centers in town, and Stride outshined them all. I feel like they should pay their employees more though...but that is across the board at all ABA centers in eastern Iowa. The job they do daily with these kids is hard and they deserve more compensation for that. They are all trully passionate and great employees and should be rewarded so.
My daughter has grown tremendously with the help of Stride autism center. My family could not have been blessed with a better team than the ones we have at Stride. I love the daily reports, the weekly meetings to provide extra support at home, and the support that each and every Stride employee gives to my family. Stride provides individualized learning, development skills, and prepares each kid for their future. Thank you for all you do for our kids.
My son has been going to stride ( Hiawatha IA ) for a year now and his dad & I absolutely love this program for him. It has its ups and downs like every other place , but overall we have seen our son’s communication and personality skills improve so much going here the ladies and gents here work so hard to do what needs to be done for every kids different needs. They work with you and are very attentive to what you as a family want as far as goals for a family. I appreciate all they have done for Ziaire I appreciate all the love and support they show Ziaire on a daily and I would 100% recommend stride to ANY family. Thank you for all you all do for our little guy day in & day out!
My son loves going to Stride. He is so excited to go in the morning. I have seen many improvements in areas he is behind in, too. So not does he enjoy it, he is learning a lot of stuff as well. If you are a parent nervous about ABA, (The internet is full of anti-ABA content.) I have had none of these issues at Stride. They are great with him!
My daughters have been attending Stride for over a year now and we have had amazing experiences and care. The staffs are very knowledgeable, and they truly care about my daughters' needs. I have seen a big difference in their speech, their behavior, and learning skills. I am so grateful that we have Stride, this center has brought us peace and happiness knowing they are here to help support our kids and us as parents. I would truly recommend Stride to families who needs an extra hand when it comes to their children.
Our son was diagnosed with ASD in 2022 and we put him on the waitlist wherever we could for therapy. We were lucky to get into Stride the same year and the team did a great job in helping him transition into the sessions full day.
He was initially attending daycare and getting him to walk into the classroom was a struggle(lot of tears), and it’s not something any parent wants for their child on a daily basis. We were skeptical about ABA, since historically many have had traumatic experiences with the way it was practiced. But once he started attending Stride he was so happy and excited to be there. This changed everything for us.
They have a great team working one on one with each child and a BCBA who oversees the plan. They are flexible, friendly and work with parents to make sure our inputs matter in all decisions made in regard to the short and long term therapy plan put in place for the child. They are willing to collaborate with therapists at other clinics the child is attending, so it helps with the overall progress and development.
If your child has been diagnosed with ASD, ABA therapy is the way to go. They receive one on one therapy through play and I believe it is very crucial to start as early as possible. Our son has made great progress so far with communication, fine and gross motor skills, which are essential before starting school. We look forward to continuing with the team at Stride.
This ABA center has been a life changer for my girls and me. My daughter has been there for a year now and we have seen her improved drastically. She loves going to Stride and the staffs are very friendly and knowledgeable. We are so thankful to have found a place where our girls can feel safe being themselves and have fun learning and developing new skills. I also like the fact that Stride has security cameras everywhere all their rooms are always open. I would highly recommend this place!
It is an absolute blessing to have Stride here in the Midwest . Coming from Colorado to Iowa with a not-yet-diagnosed autistic son, it was a rude awakening to see that there were ZERO early intervention ABA therapy clinics . Being a former behavior specialist myself, I found Stride (brand new at the time) and I immediately got my son enrolled.

He made more advancements in language at Stride than he did seeing a speech pathologist. His SIB is gone . He is potty trained. He is social. He is polite. All of these things the staff at Stride helped let shine in my son. The staff at the Hiawatha location value and honor my son as an individual, and adhere to my wish that they never address any stimming, movement breaks, or any behavior or quality that is inherent to the autistic experience and NOT maladaptive. This is critical in ABA because it is a controversial topic as so many autistic adults recall horrible experiences of AbA from their childhoods.

I advise anyone looking for a good ABA therapy clinic to interview and research the history and contemporary issues surrounding ABA so you know what to look for . I have only seen my child thrive at Stride, and HIGHLY recommend them .

ABA Therapy

Common Questions About Our Center

ABA is the gold standard for treating autism and is the most widely studied and effective treatment available. ABA is recommended by major American medical associations and the US Surgeon General. CBT is generally not the best fit for preschool-aged children with autism, especially those with minimal communication skills.

Some children with autism have symptoms that can be supported by occupational therapy (OT), such as sensory sensitivities or gross motor challenges. Stride partners with local OT providers, as applicable, to ensure proper coordination of care. That said, ABA is typically the therapy that makes the biggest difference for children with autism.

Decades of clinical studies have shown that young children with autism who received intensive ABA therapy demonstrated:

  1. Larger increases in IQ and adaptive functioning
  2. Fewer challenging behaviors and social problems
  3. Increased likelihood of fully joining regular education without assistance

ABA uses positive reinforcement to promote increases in desirable behaviors. As a result, we see its application across a wide range of uses. From school settings where teachers reinforce participation and task completion to marketing executives who develop loyalty programs, ABA is everywhere.

Your involvement is key to your child’s success. We provide regular updates, training sessions, and opportunities to collaborate so you feel empowered to support your child at home.

We’re here to make the process as simple as possible. Contact us through our website or call the center closest to you. Our team will walk you through assessments, insurance details, and the next steps. Learn more about the Enrollment Process.

If your child has autism or is showing developmental delays, ABA therapy could make a big difference. Reach out to us, and we’ll help assess your child’s unique needs and potential benefits.

ABA can be helpful until therapy goals are met or if progress is not being made. Stride specializes in supporting preschool children ages 2 through 6 with the goal of making significant and meaningful progress that reduces the need for continued ABA post-Stride. For children who can benefit from continued ABA after the age of 6, Stride can provide a referral to other organizations that can provide care in-home or after school.

Absolutely. Every child is different, and we take the time to create a therapy plan tailored specifically to your child’s strengths, challenges, and goals.

Research shows that the earlier we intervene and begin therapy, the better the outcomes. This makes intuitive sense as kids have greater plasticity in their behavior the younger they are.

As kids grow older, they develop compensatory habits that make it more difficult to teach new, positive skills. For these reasons and more, Stride specializes in supporting preschool-aged children (ages 2 to 6) with autism. Typically, the earliest someone can be diagnosed with autism is 18 months old. Beginning ABA shortly after that is optimal for families who want their children to realize their potential.

If your child has autism or is showing developmental delays, ABA therapy could make a big difference. Reach out to us, and we’ll help assess your child’s unique needs and potential benefits.

Costs can vary, but most insurance plans cover ABA therapy when medically necessary. We’ll work with you to confirm coverage and help minimize out-of-pocket expenses.
